A few days back we posted an article about how interest rates were the lowest level on records dating back to 1971. The article mentions that the lower interest rate point previous to that was in the 1950's.
During our research on what else you could buy in the 1950's (a single family home for $10K for example), we ran across some old archived pictures from around the Puget Sound. Us title geeks love this stuff, so we thought we'd share some of the more interesting ones we found.
Bellevue Wharf circa 1908
The East Channel bridge connecting Enatai to the North side of Mercer Island was completed in 1923. This picture may be the beginning of that project, although it's hard to know for certain from this picture.
The Kingdome construction circa 1975
We're not still paying for this thing, are we?
South Park Bridge circa 1932
This map was used to estimate taxable timber resources
Seattle's Hooverville circa 1933
This particular "Hooverville" was located off of Holgate and 6th Ave S
Our Puget Sound area is full of rich history. It's fun to look back once in a while and see where we all came from. Hope you enjoyed them.
Thanks everyone,
Chris
