Local Food Banks in need of donations!

As proven many times in the past, when the economy becomes strugglesome, donations to National and Local charities drop significantly.  Unfortunately this is the time when we all need to dig a little deeper into Foodbankour pockets.  Local food banks have seen a steady decline in their donations.

"Volunteers of America food bank has experienced a 35 percent increase in households requesting assistance at the same time charitable giving has dropped 67 percent".

The end result is many families may experience Thanksgiving without a Thanksgiving dinner.  Christmas looks dismal as well.  Donations of food help, but monetary donations are truly what are needed.  Please dig a little deeper and maybe give up a couple of Latte's this week.

The following is a list of local food banks that could use your immediate assistance.

For more information or questions on how to donate, contact Volunteers of America 425-212-3211.

Double Decker Buses in Snohomish County

Sno Double Deck Bus2 This summer the Snohomish County Business Journal reported ridership on Community Transit has risen this year, at least partly in response to the spike in gas prices.

Even though fuel prices have recently dropped, some sources believe public transportation's increased ridership is here to stay.

Regardless of the reason, Snohomish County Community Transit has ordered 23 double decker buses to replace ones that are nearing the end of their service life.  These new buses will carry more passengers while taking up less street and storage space.  Maybe this is a case where we should view the bus as being half full instead of half empty!
