For many people 2008 has been a somewhat interesting and challenging year at best. Now the New Years resolutions kick in to gear. Work out regularly, lose weight, quit smoking, get organized, the list goes on and on. Maybe we should just table all the goals and enjoy today?
Betsy Wright Loving, an Arlington psychotherapist and massage practitioner, suggests a couple of resolutions for the grouchy and unmotivated among us. "Laugh, that's the easy one. And take time each day to be grateful." Laughter is really good for you, "It changes the brain chemistry and it's great for stress.
With a new president in office and possibly the implementation of an economic stimulus package 2009 looks like it will be a year of change for our country. Add that to whatever is happening in your personal life and there's no use grumbling, change is a comin'! Let's look optimistically toward the future and maybe it won't be quite so difficult.
Therapist Betsy Wright Loving is starting a weekly Laughter Club group in Arlington. The free group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to noon every Wednesday starting Jan. 7 at the Mirkwood and Shire Cafe, 117 E. Division Ave., in downtown Arlington. For more information, call 360-501-8894.
