How do you compare property taxes?

One of our loan officer clients recently called with a question about property taxes.  She was wondering how her borrower's property taxes compared with those of other cities in King County.  She theorized that although her borrower was paying higher taxes in total, it was because of the assessment rather than the levy rate.  This was a new question for us so we decided to do some research. 

King County  Levy Rates are published annually so that information wasn't too hard to find.  Understanding it is another question!  Please check out the King County Assessor's Office for a detailed description.  Next we had to determine the Average Assessed Value for each city and enter the data in a spreadsheet and voila!
